Where is your nearest chiropractor to me?
We have two clinics, so most of Auckland has a Healing Centre chiropractor near them. Remuera (614 Remuera Road, free on-site parking) serves central Auckland, including Newmarket, Parnell, Greenlane and Epsom. Henderson (361 Great North Road) serves West Auckland, including Te Atatū, Massey, Glen Eden, Ranui and New Lynn. Both are open seven days.
How do I choose a good chiropractor in Auckland?
Look for four things. Registration with the New Zealand Chiropractic Board, which every chiropractor here holds. Published fees, so there are no surprises. An assessment before any treatment, with a plain explanation of what was found and what is recommended. And a practitioner who will tell you when chiropractic care is not the right option. Is a chiro the same as a chiropractor?
Yes. "Chiro" is the everyday New Zealand shortening of chiropractor. Either way, the person treating you must be registered with the New Zealand Chiropractic Board, hold a current practising certificate and work within the Board's standards, including its advertising standard, which is why you will not see promises of results on this site.
Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with us online or by phone, including for ACC. If we think you need to see your GP or another health professional first, we will tell you.
What happens at a first appointment?
A full health history, a discussion about chiropractic care, a physical examination with the relevant neurological and orthopaedic tests, posture or nervous-system scans for adults where your chiropractor judges they will help, and your first treatment when clinically appropriate. Allow 30 to 40 minutes.
Do adjustments hurt?
Generally, no. An adjustment is a quick, controlled movement and most people find it comfortable. Some people feel mild soreness or stiffness for a day or two afterwards, similar to starting a new exercise, and it settles on its own. If you would prefer lower-force techniques, say so; there are gentle options for every part of the spine. More about adjustments.
What is the popping sound during an adjustment?
Not every adjustment makes a sound. When it does, the click is gas being released from the fluid inside the joint, the same thing that happens when knuckles crack. It is harmless, and an adjustment works just as well without it.
What can chiropractic care help with?
Chiropractic care is for problems of the spine, joints, muscles and nerves: back pain, neck pain, headaches that begin in the neck, sciatica, shoulder and hip pain, sports injuries and posture-related pain. We do not treat general medical conditions, and we do not claim that adjustments improve general health, immunity or conditions unrelated to the spine and joints. Do you accept ACC?
Yes. We are ACC registered, so no referral is needed. If you have injured yourself in an accident, your chiropractor will assess the injury at your first appointment and lodge a claim if it qualifies, or see you under an existing claim if you bring the details. Do you accept health insurance like Southern Cross?
Yes. We are a Southern Cross Easy-claim provider: with your policy number we can check your level of cover and, where your policy allows, invoice Southern Cross directly. With any other health insurer, you pay at the clinic and we give you a formal receipt so you can claim back from your provider.
How many appointments will I need?
It depends on what is going on and how long it has been there. Some people need a handful of visits; long-standing problems usually take longer. Your chiropractor will explain the recommended plan at your first appointment and review it with you as you go. Some patients choose to continue with occasional appointments after their original problem has settled; that is a choice, never a requirement.
What if I need to change or cancel my appointment?
Please give us at least 24 hours' notice. You can change or cancel using the link in your confirmation email, or by calling the clinic. Appointments cancelled with less than 24 hours' notice, or missed without notice, may be charged the full appointment fee. Changing or cancelling an appointment.
Can children and teenagers be treated?
Yes, when there is a reason to: pain, an injury, a posture concern or a question a parent wants answered. Under-18 first appointments follow the same steps as an adult first appointment without the posture scans, using gentle techniques, with a parent or guardian involved. See children and teens.
Can I be treated during pregnancy?
Yes. Back and pelvic pain are common in pregnancy and we use gentle, adapted techniques, working alongside your midwife or lead maternity carer. See care during pregnancy.

Is there parking?
Remuera has free on-site parking at 614 Remuera Road. At Henderson, there is usually free parking on Great North Road; if not, use the public carpark at 14 Trading Place and the back entrance. Finding the Henderson clinic.
