About The Healing Centre

Our mission and values

Our mission is to merge chiropractic expertise with a holistic approach to nurture wellbeing in body, mind and soul.

The Healing Centre is a chiropractic practice with clinics in Remuera and Henderson, Auckland. This page sets out what we stand for and what you can expect from us.

Our promise

People before profit.

The Healing Centre exists because we believe everyone deserves care. Not everyone who needs help with their back, neck or headaches can easily get it, and cost, time and not knowing where to start all get in the way. We try to remove those barriers.

In practice, that means taking your concerns seriously, explaining what we find and what we recommend in plain language, publishing our fees, and being open seven days so that appointments fit around work and family. It also means telling you when chiropractic care is not the right option, and pointing you to what is.

Our approach draws on Te Whare Tapa Whā, the Māori model of health that looks at taha tinana (physical health), taha hinengaro (mental and emotional health), taha wairua (spiritual health) and taha whānau (family and social health) together. We look at the whole person, not just the sore bit. Every chiropractor here is registered with the New Zealand Chiropractic Board.

Our values

Four things we hold ourselves to.

These values guide how we practise at both clinics, from the first phone call to the way we talk about your results.

1

Empathy, warmth and professionalism

We listen with empathy and respond with warmth and professionalism, so that every patient feels valued and understood.

2

Holistic wellbeing

We see health as a whole, and focus on the entire person rather than only their symptoms.

3

A preventative focus

We prioritise prevention, and educate and support our patients to take practical steps towards their own health.

4

Evidence-based practice

We keep up with the research and let it inform our care, and we are honest about what the evidence does and does not show. Read about the research.

The promise in practice

What this looks like when you visit.

  • Listening first. Your first appointment starts with your history and what you want to get back to, before any examination.
  • Clear explanations. What we found, what we recommend and why, before you commit to anything.
  • Fees you can see. Published in full, for both clinics. See the fees.
  • Admin handled for you. ACC claims, Southern Cross Easy-claim and insurance receipts sorted with you at the clinic.
  • Appointments that fit. Seven days a week, early and late, at two clinics.
  • The right care. If chiropractic is not appropriate for you, we will tell you and point you to what is.

If cost is a concern, talk to us.

We also run a koha model of care for people in our community who need it. We don't want money to stop you asking for help, so tell us about your circumstances and we will discuss the options available.
